PBS Is ‘Better’ ‘When Compared,’ Less Biased than CNN

David Brooks Responds to Trump’s Executive Order on PBS Funding

During Friday’s episode of “PBS Newshour,” New York Times columnist David Brooks addressed President Donald Trump’s recent executive order impacting funding for NPR and PBS. He posited that PBS holds more significance than CNN in the current media landscape, suggesting that PBS better understands its audience.

Brooks elaborated, stating that the core belief of the Trump administration revolves around the idea that progressive elites have harmed the nation. He emphasized a need to challenge these progressive elites, whether in the realms of art, science, or education.

He posed a question regarding perceived bias at PBS: “If you think PBS is biased, then compared to which news organization?” He argued against shielding PBS, noting that, although he’s associated with it, he’s committed to showcasing the voices of local affiliates that often reflect their communities.
