Brooklyn Influencer Evicted by Landlord Eliot Spitzer
Pei Cheung, a self-proclaimed influencer from Brooklyn, was evicted from her upscale apartment in Williamsburg on Tuesday, with her landlord being none other than former New York Governor Eliot Spitzer.
Chong, who’s currently serving time for allegedly skipping out on a pricey restaurant bill, had been struggling with her rent payments. Even after her lease at 416 Kent Avenue expired in August 2024, she remained in the apartment, according to court documents.
By the end of the lease, she had racked up approximately $8,000 in unpaid rent. However, this amount could balloon to over $50,000 as she continued to reside in the $3,350-a-month unit. The eviction warrant was executed smoothly, as confirmed by Sheriff Robert Renzulli’s office. He reported spending about an hour changing the locks on the apartment.
“The apartment was empty,” Renzulli stated. “The young lady was not there. The eviction has been completed.” He did mention that her belongings, such as furniture and clothing, were still inside the unit. NYC regulations dictate that landlords must store tenants’ items for 30 days before disposing of them.
Renzulli also mentioned that, in general situations, landlords can dispose of property but would likely consult legal advice in unusual cases like this.
It appears that Chong had become a challenging tenant, with neighbors citing “repeated disturbances” and conflict. Bob Janey, the building manager, remarked that there were issues with trash being left in the hallways and excessive noise from her apartment. Previously, he noted that they were taking serious legal action against Chong due to these ongoing problems.
Chong gained notoriety on social media, often flaunting her designer outfits while embroiled in a series of legal troubles that involved dining at high-end restaurants without paying. She was said to have been arrested multiple times for this alleged behavior.
Restaurant workers had expressed their discontent, claiming that Chong would often run up bills she had no intention of settling and would post about her meals online as if they were sponsored experiences.
