Nancy Pelosi’s Remarks on Trump Spark Discussion
Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi recently reflected on her inflammatory comments about President Donald Trump, describing him as a “vile creature” and “the worst thing on the planet” during a CNN interview.
In her earlier remarks to CNN’s Erex Michelson, Pelosi affirmed, “Yes, yes, yes,” when asked if she considered Trump the worst person on Earth.
In a follow-up discussion with CNN’s Anderson Cooper, her first since announcing her decision not to seek re-election, Pelosi was asked about her characterization of Trump. Cooper inquired if she thought Trump had changed since his first term regarding his leadership. Pelosi responded, laughing, that she had used “vile creature” as a euphemism, suggesting it could have been more severe.
When Cooper pressed her for alternative descriptors, Pelosi shifted the focus, stating, “No, no, I want to talk about my House, House Democrats, and how to win what’s out there.”
She defended her strong words by asserting that Trump disrespects the Constitution, stating, “He is the president of the United States and has no respect for it. In fact, he has turned the Supreme Court into a corrupt court and chilled the press.” Pelosi expressed concerns about his effect on the integrity of governance.
While Pelosi faced backlash for her initial comments, her office later sent a response to Fox News Digital without further elaboration.
