Pelosi says Biden ‘very sharp’: ‘He’s younger than I am’

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) on Monday defended President Biden’s mental strength, calling him “very sharp” and judging the president because he is older than Biden. He said he couldn’t do it.

“I’ve worked with the president for a long time, especially when he was president and since then, I’ve worked closely with him as chairman. And I know he … I mean, he’s always been proactive.” she said in an interview with CNN’s Anderson Cooper. . “He knows these issues. He knows the law. He helped write some of it. He campaigned on it.”

“Anyone who thinks they have an advantage because of his age thinks that’s dangerous, because he’s so sharp,” she continued.

Cooper noted that some Democrats are concerned about the president’s age and mental health, pointing to Biden’s gaffe last week in which he confused the leaders of Egypt and Mexico.

It’s the third time in a week that the president has appeared to confuse world leaders, with special counsel Robert Hur’s scathing report detailing various misrememberings by the president during a press conference just before that. He vehemently criticized the book.

Mr. Hsu’s assessment of Mr. Biden as an “elderly man with poor memory” was included as part of an investigation into the president’s handling of classified documents, further highlighting concerns about Mr. Biden’s age and job performance. .

At 81, Biden is the oldest sitting U.S. president and will be 86 at the end of his second term if re-elected in November.

Asked to address those concerns, Pelosi said, “Well, I think people make mistakes. I think his age is important, but that’s an objective fact. He… sometimes makes mistakes. …We all do it.”

Pelosi, 83, later added, “I think age is an objective fact.” “I say it again and again, everything is relative. He’s younger than me, so what do I have to say about his age?”

The former House speaker also singled out former President Trump, claiming he would repeat “the same mistake seven times” about “this and that.”

Pelosi said of Trump, “It wasn’t a gaffe, it was a complete … walk on a path that was not true, whether intentionally or not.”

President Trump, 77, has made a series of gaffes in recent months, including confusing Pelosi with Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley when discussing the January 6, 2021, Capitol riot.
