Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said on CNN’s “State of the Union” on Sunday that former President Donald Trump may have dementia.
Host Dana Bash added, “Some newspaper editorials are or are simply calling on Biden to make a decision for the country. Tom Friedman, a friend of President Biden, wrote: ‘Joe Biden is a good man and a good president, but if he insists on running and loses to Trump, he will be ineligible to run for reelection. Biden, his family, the staff and party members who supported him will not be able to show their faces. What do you think? Is there any part of you that thinks President Biden should step aside?'”
“I’m back in southern California and I want you to know that people are supporting Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. Just talking about the debate, they’re taking a critical look at a person who stood on a stage and continued to lie. I respect some of the people’s opinions, but I also respect the grassroots opinions. I support Biden and Kamala Harris and this is an opportunity for Joe Biden to go out there and show that he has stamina,” Pelosi said.
She added: “By the way, there are some in the media and some medical professionals who don’t think so for some reason who think Trump has dementia. His train of thought is disorganized. He’s not just lying. He doesn’t even know the truth. So if we’re talking about mental capacity, let’s be fair. I don’t think Tom Friedman thinks Donald Trump should be president of the United States.”
