Pennsylvania mother charged with stabbing her husband and toddler at Great Wolf Lodge

Tragic Incident at Great Wolf Lodge

A mother from Pennsylvania is facing severe charges after allegedly stabbing her husband and their young son inside a hotel room at Great Wolf Lodge. Authorities report that Metallica Rose Harrison, 27, from Towanda, has been charged with two counts of criminal homicide following the disturbing discovery made by police.

According to the criminal complaint, Harrison told emergency responders that it “wasn’t supposed to end like this” and expressed a desire for her “happy family,” a sentiment she had cherished since childhood.

On October 12, Pocono Township police responded to a distress call made by Harrison from room 2030 of the resort. Upon arrival, officers found her at the door with visible injuries, including cuts on her wrists and puncture wounds around her neck. During the encounter, she reportedly mentioned wanting to be with her husband and son.

Inside the room, officers discovered her husband, Charles Harrison, and their 3-year-old son, both unresponsive. Charles had suffered multiple stab wounds, while the toddler had what appeared to be a single stab wound to his chest.

While Harrison was taken to the hospital for treatment, she revealed to emergency staff, “Every day, I work so hard. To be the best person, the best mother, the best wife,” adding a lament about the tragic end of her family life.

Investigators located a large kitchen knife and a smaller knife in the bathroom, neither of which matched those typically found in the lodge. Additionally, various medication bottles were scattered around the room, raising questions about the family’s wellbeing.

The family had checked into the resort on September 21 and had initially extended their stay until October 5 with a checkout date set for October 13.

Surveillance footage confirmed that all three family members entered their room late on a Sunday evening, and later, Harrison and Charles reportedly visited an arcade before returning to their room just before midnight.

The district attorney for Monroe County described the situation as “disturbing” and stated that the investigation was ongoing, with the hope of bringing more clarity to the heart-wrenching event. He thanked law enforcement and forensic teams for their efforts, noting the complexities involved in the investigation.

Authorities are treating the deaths as an isolated domestic tragedy, emphasizing that there is no threat to the broader community. The Great Wolf Lodge expressed their sadness over the incident and stated their commitment to cooperating fully with the investigation.

They reassured the community that there was no ongoing security concern as a result of this family situation.
