Pennsylvania Uber driver arrested after college student raped

After dropping a female Pennsylvania college student on campus last month, an Uber driver sexually assaulted her before demanding payment for soiling her in the back seat, authorities said.

Mirvan Dinler, 26, was arrested last week and faces several criminal charges, including rape, in connection with the alleged September 13 incident.

According to a criminal complaint, the unnamed victim, a 21-year-old student at Villanova University, requested an Uber after going to a birthday party with friends in Philadelphia. Prosecutors said she felt unwell on the way to the venue and decided to go home.

She told authorities that she arrived on campus around 11 p.m. and was escorted to her dormitory building by Mr. Dingler.

The suspect allegedly followed her into the room, then raped her and forced her to perform oral sex.

After the assault, Dingler left, but returned a short time later and demanded the woman give him money, saying he had soiled her car. She handed him her cell phone and he transferred $150 to a Venmo account under a different name, according to court documents.

He left soon after.

The next morning, the victim said she noticed someone had started following her on Instagram with the same name as the Venmo account owner.

She reported the rape to the university, prosecutors said. The university told Fox News Digital that it referred all inquiries to the Delaware County District Attorney's Office.

An Uber spokesperson told Fox News Digital that Dingler has been banned from the app.

“Sexual assault is a devastating crime and has no place in our society,” the spokesperson said. “We are appalled by the report and immediately banned the driver after receiving the report. We will assist law enforcement in any way possible.”
