Pentagon will not tolerate any celebration of Charlie Kirk's assassination

Following the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, the Pentagon has expressed strong disapproval towards any celebration or ridicule surrounding this incident, emphasizing that such behavior is unacceptable among military personnel and civilians working within the department.

“It’s unacceptable for military or War Department civilians to celebrate or mock the assassination of fellow Americans. We have a strict policy against that,” a Pentagon spokesperson stated, sharing a post that highlights the seriousness of the matter.

War Department Secretary Pete Hegseth reiterated the urgency of the situation, stressing that incidents like these are monitored closely and addressed immediately. “This conduct is completely unacceptable,” he said.

Meanwhile, Navy Secretary John Phelan issued a warning, indicating that any actions deemed offensive towards the Navy or Marines would lead to swift consequences. “Any posts that show disrespect towards our fellow Americans who have been killed will not be tolerated,” he asserted.

In response to these statements, Wisconsin Republican Rep. Derrick Van Orden threatened to take action against Phelan unless he promptly addressed the matter within the Navy. “If you don’t act decisively to eliminate this behavior, I will be prepared to take action myself. Wearing a uniform is a privilege, and it must be treated as such,” he stated emphatically.

The Air Force also weighed in, stating that comments condoning recent political violence are not aligned with military values. They affirmed that maintaining professionalism and respect within the ranks is non-negotiable.

Overall, the reactions indicate a broader concern about the safety and respect for individuals in the political sphere, amidst rising tensions surrounding recent events.
