Internal watchdogs say the Pentagon is “uncoordinated” and lacks a strategy to identify UFOs.

The U.S. Department of Defense Inspector General released a nonclassified report this week assessing the department's policies regarding UFOs, officially known as unidentified anomalous phenomena, or UAPs.

“Over the past several decades, the Department of Defense has undertaken rare and inconclusive efforts to identify and understand the origins, capabilities, and intentions of unidentified aerial phenomena (UAPs),” the inspector general's report said. Stated. “We have determined that the Department of Defense does not have a comprehensive UAP policy and, as a result, lacks assurance that national security and flight safety threats to the United States from UAPs are identified and mitigated.”

It found that the Pentagon lacks a “coordinated approach” and relies primarily on its various military commands to investigate, understand and identify ships.

The watchdog agency found that the Pentagon “has not adopted a coordinated approach to detecting, reporting, collecting, analyzing, and identifying UAPs” and has largely excluded “the role of geographic combatant commands.” discovered.

“The Department of Defense has not published a comprehensive UAP response plan that identifies roles, responsibilities, requirements, and coordination procedures for the detection, reporting, collection, analysis, and identification of UAP incidents. “The Department of Defense response is uncoordinated and concentrated within each service branch,” the report states.

“Historically, many reported UAP sightings have been reported by military pilots, and the Air Force and Navy have been at the forefront of developing policies, procedures, and mechanisms for reporting UAPs.
