‘People Don’t Actually Need’ Vouchers, Since Most Using Them Go to Private Schools Anyway

On Thursday's “MSNBC Prime,” President Randy Weingerten of the American Federation of Teachers claimed that federal education money is either a tax cut on school vouchers or a blocked grant. She insisted that “people don't really need them.”

While discussing the move to eliminate the Federal Department of Education, Weingarten said:[T]Ake Mississippi, it did a very good job of actually using these federal dollars to increase literacy, but how does it replace 20% of the educational dollar? Or do they even think it would replace it? ”

She continued. “Both– because they are seeking a tax cut for Elon or a voucher block grant, but they don't really need it, because most people who use voucher these days are already attending private schools.
