‘People have been waiting for this’

There's no need to chase the jingle – Mr. Soft is now still.

The iconic ice cream man parked on Long Island and has his roots in his first brick and mortar store earlier this month. The mint has now become the case, according to the franchise owners.

“People love Mr. Soft, and sometimes when the trucks are too fast, the store is a really good idea because they can't catch them,” Jimmy Elya told the Post.

Elya, 54, drove a Mr. Soft Eatrack in the Hamptons every summer, dating back to 2010.

“I always planned to open a store, but this business was from anniversary to Labor Day. It was very difficult because I had no income during the winter. But I tried to save money and save money. And it happened at last,” recalls Ilya, adding that she bought the store in November 2024.

Since its debut on March 1, at East Islip (a former home of Pat's ice cream shop for 40 years) at 195 Carleton Ave., corn-obsessed customers line up around the block, desperate for a taste of Mister Softee Classics.

In addition to the famous soft serves, creamy milkshakes and Sundays, the shop offers 40 hard ice creams, ranging from M&M to Italian caramel and red bull flavors.

“We were really happy and the business was really good. I think a lot of people are waiting for this,” Ilya said.

“My goal is to make people happy. People love it – especially the kids. …When they see ice cream, they start laughing and they love it. That's why I love this business,” Ilya said.
