PepsiCo Launches Colorless Snacks

PepsiCo has unveiled a new line of colorless snacks, aiming to retain the beloved flavors without any artificial dyes. In a recent announcement, they introduced the “Simply NKD” brand, including both Doritos and Cheetos, which will roll out in stores starting December 1st.

The new Doritos flavors include Nacho Cheese and Cool Ranch, and the Cheetos options are Puff and Flamin’ Hot. Rachel Ferdinand, CEO of PepsiCo Foods USA, reassured consumers that the classic versions of these snacks will still be available.

Ferdinand mentioned that the “NKD” line is meant to be an alternative to meet the demands of health-conscious shoppers. “This showcases our commitment to maintaining great flavor—even without the added colors. We’re expanding our offerings while keeping our iconic brands intact,” she explained.

Hernan Tantardini, the U.S. chief marketing officer for PepsiCo Foods, described the launch as a potential snack revolution, or perhaps even a renaissance. He emphasized that this innovation is about reintroducing favorites in a new, cleaner way.

Nutrition expert Julie E. Health expressed her support for this shift, hoping it encourages other brands, particularly in cereals, to reduce harmful ingredients. She commented, “It’s exciting to see companies using real foods like sweet potatoes and carrots in snacks.”

Fitness trainer Stephen Campolo also praised the move as a sensible reaction to public concerns about processed foods. He did add, though, that while reducing artificial ingredients is great, these snacks are still quite processed. “The key to healthier snacking lies in portion control,” he advised, suggesting pairing snacks with proteins like nuts or cheese.

In conclusion, while there’s a push for healthier options, Campolo reminded consumers that treating these snacks as occasional indulgences is the best way to enjoy them without the guilt.
