Pedestrian Injured in Car Collision Near the Pentagon

An accident outside the Pentagon on Thursday night left an unidentified person injured, according to officials who spoke with The Daily Caller.

A spokesperson from the Pentagon Force Protection Agency (PFPA) confirmed that the incident involved a single-vehicle crash on the road connecting the North and South Pentagon parking areas around 8:45 p.m.

Footage of the collision was shared by independent reporter Dave Statter, who regularly covers incidents in the Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia areas. The video depicts a car speeding through an intersection leading to the Pentagon, passing by two parked police vehicles in a small lot at the intersection.

The clip reveals that the car, while maintaining speed and with its brake lights on, crashed through the median as the road curved to the right. It then veered to the left side of the empty road, striking a pedestrian who was walking along the left sidewalk.

It appears the left side of the car hit the wall separating the road from the Pentagon, causing the vehicle to swerve toward the pedestrian and sending sparks flying from behind the car.

The car eventually stopped after colliding with the pedestrian, who was reportedly trying to flee the oncoming vehicle.

One of the police cars that the driver passed responded to the scene of the accident.

In the footage, an officer can be seen speaking with two individuals, their identities obscured for privacy. Statter reported that the Arlington Fire Department was dispatched to the location and noted that the driver was cooperative with officials, although no arrests were made.

A spokesperson for the PFPA indicated that police officers assessed the pedestrian’s condition, and he was transported to Oakville Hospital for injuries that were not thought to be life-threatening.

The vehicle involved in the crash was towed away, and the driver was issued several citations.
