Multiple agencies are looking into an incident where a woman was shot and hurt outside the CIA headquarters in McLean, Virginia on Thursday morning.
A CIA spokesperson stated, “There was a security incident at the CIA headquarters, prompting a law enforcement response. The main gate is closed for now, and additional information will be provided as it becomes available.”
The woman’s condition is currently unclear.
The Fairfax County Police Department reported that the CIA is leading the investigation and is aiding with the situation. They mentioned, “Around 4 a.m., our patrol officers went to assist CIA police with traffic control following a non-fatal shooting on CIA property. Our officers are currently in the area to help with transportation, but the CIA is in charge of the investigation. There are no road closures at the moment.”
On a related note, two Israeli diplomats were shot dead during an event at the Jewish Museum in Washington, D.C. Witnesses described the shooter’s chilling words: “I did this for Gaza.”
The FBI’s Washington Field Office confirmed via social media that they also responded to the situation. “Our people, including the FBI evidence response team, will be on the ground supporting our partners,” they wrote.
As of now, it’s unclear if any evidence was found at the scene, and the FBI reassured that “there are no ongoing threats” to public safety.
At this point, there’s no indication that the CIA incident is linked to the tragic shooting of the Israeli embassy workers the previous night.
