Charlie Kirk Shooting Investigation Continues
The search for the individual responsible for the attack on Charlie Kirk is ongoing, as previously detained persons have been released.
“The person we had in custody was let go following our interrogation,” stated the FBI Director. Kash Patel shared this surprising development on social media on Wednesday night.
Charlie Kirk was shot during a rally at a university campus.
Details about the incident are still emerging, and Patel mentioned that they are committed to transparency as the investigation proceeds.
Interestingly, the reversal happened just hours after Patel announced that Kirk’s assailant had been apprehended. A press conference was held by Utah Governor Spencer Cox, and security footage was supposed to assist in identifying other potential suspects.
The mother of a recently released individual described him as “extremely shaken” by the traumatic events he witnessed and his subsequent detention.
After the shooting, the U.S. flag was flown at half-staff in honor of Kirk.
In her comments, the mother explained that her son was close to the shooting scene, showing her distress at the ordeal. “I have a photo of him about 25 feet away when it happened. He sent us a video,” she said.
This young man, a fan of Kirk, was just attending the event like any other college student.
Witnesses reported chaos as people fled the scene following the gunfire.
This recent suspect was the second person taken into custody after Kirk was shot around noon on the university grounds; he was later released as well. The first individual, an older man, had been taken in but was also found not to be involved, leaving investigators still searching for the person who targeted one of the conservative movement’s notable figures.
