Assault at Political Protest in Massachusetts

A man from Massachusetts has been charged following an altercation with a supporter of former President Donald Trump who was dressed in an inflatable costume during a protest over the weekend, according to local authorities.

The incident took place on Saturday at a “No Kings” rally in Kings Beach, located in Swampscott, a town near Boston.

Video footage from a cellphone shows 36-year-old Michael Carl approaching Jonathan Silveira, the man in the costume, and then kicking and tackling him from behind. Silveira’s girlfriend, Angela Mazariegos, filmed the incident.

Silveira, proudly wearing the inflatable suit while waving an American flag, expressed that he simply wanted to showcase his support for Trump. “I love Donald Trump. Go Trump,” he said, noting he hadn’t intended to provoke anyone.

A police report reveals that Carl “trapped Silveira’s leg” and, putting his arm around Silveira’s neck, slammed him to the ground.

According to Sergeant Brendan Leen from the Swampscott Police Department, Carl pleaded not guilty on Monday to charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. He was released on his own recognizance, with a pretrial hearing set for December.

Recapping the event later on social media, Silveira joked, “My costume was ruined by some liberal lunatic.” He maintains his determination to support Trump openly, regardless of the backlash. “I’ll keep doing it,” he remarked, “without hesitation, even if other people don’t like it.”

A request has been made to the police for a copy of the incident report, but there has been no immediate response from them or from Silveira regarding further comments.
