Pete Alonso has plenty of other possibilities if he doesn’t return to Mets

It ultimately makes sense for the Mets to acquire fan favorite Pete Alonso, who had a great October and will likely be less than a season away from becoming the franchise's all-time home run king. The Mets appear to be more focused on superstar Juan Soto. There are several other possibilities for Alonso at the moment.

1. Giant: They are always trying to add stars, but doing so is not easy.

2. Mariners: They can take advantage of the offense, but it's a tough spot, especially for right-handed hitters. And it's almost hard to believe they're spending so much this winter.

3. Astros: They seem to be focused on Alex Bregman right now, so they could go cheap at 1B.

4. Blue Jays: They could move Vladimir Guerrero Jr. to No. 3.

5. Red Sox: There's talk of a possible trade for Triston Casas, but it may not be off the table for the talented kid.

6. Phillies: There is a possibility of moving Bryce Harper back to the outfield, but this idea is said to be “unlikely” because Harper was initially outstanding and would likely require moving Nick Castellanos or Kyle Schwarber. However, the possibility of that happening seems very low.

7. Orioles: A new owner has been chosen, and even more efforts are expected.

8. Diamondbacks: They certainly want to keep Christian Walker, but Alonso could be a backup plan.
