Pete Carroll taking Raiders job was all about Tom Brady

Forget your quarterback, roster, or salary.

The most fascinating part of the Raiders' job for new coach Pete Carroll came in the form of a handful of owners, Tom Brady.

“Tom Brady. That's where it starts.” Carol told ESPN at Combine. “When Tom wanted to do this and he wanted to be part of this, it changed my view of what is possible. I knew how consistent it was. – He's a great competitive mentality and spirit, and he's given it to other ownership groups who were incredibly fired and jacked to do something very special.”

Brady is just the owner of the Raiders' minority and Mark Davis is the owner of the majority, but the legendary quarterback has a lot of influence and has played a major role in Carroll hiring this offseason. I did.

Brady's main job is in addition to many of his other responsibilities as a commentator for Fox, but Carol has said that future Hall of Fame is available daily and always responds to the message. I said that.

“It's hard for anyone to imagine the mentality that Tom lives every day. He's as competitive as anyone I've ever been, and obviously he's played any game before. He's as competitive as people, he's really clear and he has a vision of how he sees this, how he wants to influence it, Carol said at a press conference Tuesday.

“I'm proud to express the way he sees it and how he thinks and looks forward to seeing what we're doing.”

The 73-year-old Carroll faces a tall job to rebuild the Raiders when Brady returns to the coaching ranks after taking the 2024 season after a split from the Seahawks 14 years later.

He said on Tuesday that he did not intentionally retire and left the door open for his return.

His new job has one victory season since 2016, overseeing the franchise, which went 4-13 under Antonio Pierce last year.

The Raiders have made the playoffs only once in the last eight years despite the expansion of their brackets.

Carroll faces the challenge of competing in the ultra-competitive AFC West, which features the Chiefs and two other playoff teams, especially since there is no franchise quarterback in Las Vegas.

The Raiders are linked to Sam Darnold following a year of revival with the Vikings, and the free agent is probably the best option as they own the sixth pick in the quarterback weak draft.

Carol believes that the owning groups, including Brady, will give the Raiders a chance to fight.

“We've put together a group of jacked people who have been jacked to do something special,” Carroll said. “We're so heartwarming, we're on the same page and we want it.”
