Los Angeles residents are demanding the immediate recall of Mayor Karen Bass (D) as fires ravage their community.
As of Saturday morning, their Change.org petition has 59,150 verified signatures.
“We, the undersigned Los Angeles residents and concerned citizens, acknowledge Mayor Karen Bass' gross mismanagement and failure to effectively respond to the devastating 2025 fires in and around the City of Los Angeles. We urgently demand the mayor's immediate dismissal for this reason.''
Citizens criticized the Democratic mayor, saying their city was “in crisis” and highlighting some of the terrible conditions they have endured “in the aftermath of these devastating fires.”
Water supplies are severely strained, billions of taxpayer dollars are misallocated or unspent, and countless lives are lost. Families were evacuated, homes destroyed, and livelihoods destroyed, but Mayor Bass chose to stay away from the front lines and travel abroad while his constituents suffered.
