Sam Burns was out of clubs about halfway through Saturday’s round.
The 28-year-old PGA golfer hit his tee shot wide left on the ninth hole at the FedEx St. Jude Championship earlier in the weekend.
When he saw his shot miss, he got angry and smashed his driver on the ground, which cost him the point.

The head of his driver broke off from the shaft, forcing Burns to play without one for the remainder of the round.
PGA Tour rules even prohibit Burns from changing drivers during a round because one broke during play.
