PGA star C.T. Pan uses random fan from crowd after caddy injury

One golf fan unexpectedly had the experience of a lifetime at the Canadian Open on Sunday.

Paul Emerson, a spectator at the event, caddied for two holes at Hamilton Golf & Country Club after CT Pan’s regular caddie was injured after sliding down a hill on the third hole.

As Pang was walking his caddie, Mike “Fluff” Cowan, to the medical staff at the side of the fairway, Emerson approached the golfer and asked if he could help. As reported by PGATour.com:.

Video posted by the tour showed Emerson walking down the fairway with his caddie’s bib number in his hand.

Emerson, wearing a red Masters shirt and blue cap, put his bib on before walking over to another caddie and shaking his hand.

“I helped Fluff take off his bib, put it on and started walking down the hall,” Emerson told PGATour.com.

Emerson helped caddie for Pang on the fifth hole until caddie services team member Michael Campbell took over the duties.

Paul’s caddie, Al Liddell, helped Pang finish his round on the 10th hole.

Emerson, a native of Aurora, Ontario, had previously caddied for a friend during the LPGA’s CPKC Women’s Open pro-am. In her conversation with Pang, Emerson said she would talk as little or as much as the golfer wanted, according to the outlet.

“My heart was racing a little bit. I’m a golf fanatic.” Emerson told Canada’s Sportsnet.“I walked over to Shane Lowry and my caddie, shook their hands and was like, ‘How are you?’ That hole was over in a flash and I got up on the next tee and had a bit of time to wait. [but] The phone rang.

“I joked that I hoped I’d get a good view on the fourth hole.”

Pan shot a 1-under 69 on Sunday to finish tied for 36th.
