When you're in Florida, be careful of gators on the golf course.
Unless you're Bill Horchel.
A Florida Gators alumnus, Horseshell knows everything about the actual gators that meander through the course. That's what happened on PGA National Thursday in the first round of Cognizant Classic.
Horschel was found on a 60-degree wedge by a Gator approaching him during his round, and he entered the clubhouse tied up to 16th place with a 5-under performance.

To be playfully unseen, Hoskell thrusts in the gator and retreats to the water.
After the round, Horschel talked about the moment he went viral on social media.
“I'm not afraid of gators,” Horschel said via ESPN. “Listen, like I told most people, I said, 'They're more afraid of you.' Most of the time they will come after you during a slightly aggressive mating season, and when they have some eggs, if you are around their nest, they are fine. ”

That's not to say that Horschel wasn't cautious. He made sure that he didn't actively push the Gator out. He was brought together calmly, as he was in many pressure moments during his PGA Tour career.
As Horschel finished the sixth hole in the round, the Gator appeared and found him while walking to the next tee box.

“He didn't go anywhere,” Horschel added. “So I just went over there and helped the cops.”

Horschel Birdied Holes Eight 8, 9, 10, and a bit of chilling on the back nine with a few pars, he finished the round with a birdie on the par 5 18th.
This would have been a great round in other tournaments, but there's a few things to do as Horchel filmed an astonishing 59 to lead him after one round at 12 under.
