It’s a pretty great time to be alive, isn’t it? With so many apps on our phones, we have endless access to articles and videos. Maybe you enjoy scrolling through quick clips, like those on TikTok or Instagram Reels. The cool part? The algorithms seem to know exactly what we like, helping us navigate our day with personalized content.
The PGA Tour is really stepping up to connect with fans. On Wednesday, they announced a partnership to launch “Rapid Round,” a series designed for quick recaps of rounds played by popular golfers. Pretty neat, right?
This week kicks off with the 3M Open, launching a series of events over the next few weeks.
This week, the 3M Open along with ESPN, Golf Channel, CBS Sports, and the PGA Tour will broadcast full rounds of featured players on their platforms. The first clip from the “Rapid Round” series will go live on ESPN and other tour channels starting Thursday, coinciding with the first round coverage. Fans can expect additional “rapid rounds” from CBS Sports, showcasing top players at TPC Twin City this weekend. NBC Sports will also be releasing “Rapid Rounds” at two FedEx Cup Playoff events in August: the FedEx St. Jude Championship and another event to follow.

The “Rapid Round” initiative, part of the ongoing efforts in 2025, aims to enhance fan engagement with the PGA Tour and the game of golf. This initiative, known as Fan Forward, is designed to explore new ways to connect with fans, continually testing and implementing innovations to improve the fan experience.
This is exciting! We’ll have to see how it all unfolds come Thursday, but it looks like the media outlets involved will provide quicker insights into the rounds of Scottie Scheffler and Justin Thomas.
Sport enthusiasts are starting to experience this kind of innovation more often now. For instance, Major League Baseball has been doing well in this area, using technology to create engaging narratives around games and highlights for fans. If this is the future for golf, it’s definitely a win.
