Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Nominations for 2026 Include Big Names

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is gearing up for a potentially exciting year in 2026, with nominations featuring notable artists like Phil Collins, Mariah Carey, Lauryn Hill, Oasis, and Wu-Tang Clan.

Additional nominees comprise Billy Idol, The Black Crowes, Jeff Buckley, Melissa Etheridge, Iron Maiden, INXS, New Edition, Joy Division/New Order, Shakira, Sade, and Luther Vandross, as reported by Rolling Stone. The organization plans to honor the selected inductees in April, with a ceremony typically held in the fall.

The President of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation, John Sykes, mentioned in a statement, “This talented and diverse list of nominees reflects the evolving sound and influence of rock and roll on youth culture.” He added, “Being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is the highest honor in music, and we can’t wait to celebrate the Class of 2026 this fall.”

To qualify for the 2026 nominations, each artist’s first single or album must have been released before 2001. A group of voters usually decides on six to eight performers from a list of eligible candidates, as indicated by BBC.

This year, ten nominated artists, including Buckley, Collins, Pink, Shakira, Vandross, INXS, and New Edition, could have been considered for nomination last year but were not selected.

Historically, some artists have received nominations multiple times. For instance, Carey has been nominated three times without a formal vote taking place. Iron Maiden and Joy Division/New Order have also seen three nominations, while Black Crowes, Oasis, Shakira, and Idol have each been nominated twice.

In 2025, inductees included noteworthy acts like Bad Company, Chubby Checker, Joe Cocker, Cyndi Lauper, OutKast, Soundgarden, and The White Stripes, according to the organization’s website.
