Phil Mickelson knows his professional golf end is nearing

Phil Mickelson knows he’s deep into the back nine.

in Recent interview with BloombergMickelson admitted he is nearing the time to retire from professional golf.

“I’m 53 years old now, and to be honest, my career is coming to an end,” Mickelson said.

“And now I want to help others feel the same sense of fun and fulfillment that the game of golf has given me.”

Mickelson struggled to win majors early in his career, but he hit his stride with a win at the 2004 Masters and went on to win five more (two more at Augusta, two at the PGA Championship, 1 win at the British Open).

In 2022, Mickelson becomes the first prominent professional golfer to leave the PGA Tour for LIV Golf, reportedly signing a deal worth $200 million to join the Saudi-backed startup.

In an interview with Bloomberg, he described the type of peace of mind he gained from playing golf and said he believes it can be applied to professional and recreational players alike.

“When you’re out on the golf course by yourself, there’s this sense of solace and solitude and moments of peace,” Mickelson told the magazine.

“Or you’re having a good time with your family and friends. Or you’re competing in a club championship in a junior event and feeling that competition. Or you’re playing golf at the highest level and being the best player in the world. when competing with.

“Whether you’re practicing alone or with friends, it all brings a sense of fulfillment. There are so many great things about this game of golf that I hope others can experience as well. I would like you to do that.”
