Liv Golf is Coming Back to the US
Liv Golf is rapidly gaining traction worldwide, as it’s clearly making its mark in the sports arena. The league aims to show that golf can appeal to a broader audience.
During the LIV golf tournament on Sunday, Phil Mickelson reminded everyone of his exceptional skills. On the 17th hole at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Virginia, he found himself in a tricky situation, trying to hit a shot from the rough. Positioned in a bunker, he swung his club, aiming to at least reach the green.
As luck would have it, the ball rolled onto the green and eventually dropped into the cup. A broadcaster exclaimed, “That’s incredible!” as Mickelson celebrated by raising his arm in triumph.
This shot is being considered one of the highlights of the 2025 Liv Golf season. At that moment, Mickelson was 12 under par, standing in seventh place. He wrapped up the tournament with a score of 13 under, finishing fourth alongside Thomas Peters, Bryson DeChambeau, and Bubba Watson.
A notable addition to Liv Golf is Jose Luis Barrester, who had a viral incident at the Masters earlier this year.
It’s worth mentioning that Mickelson’s team, Hyflyers GC, placed 8th, with Andy Ogletree, Brendan Steele, and Cameron Tringale falling behind. Joaquin Niemann clinched the tournament victory with a score of 15 under par, while Graeme McDowell and Anirban Lahiri tied for second at 14 under.
Niemann now boasts four wins this season, strengthening his lead in the championship standings, closely followed by DeChambeau. Meanwhile, John Rahm, Sergio Garcia, and Lucas Herbert rounded out the top five.
Despite missing the season’s opening tournament, Mickelson ranks 11th overall. He managed to finish third in Hong Kong and sixth in Miami before his showing in Virginia.
