The Philadelphia Firefighters and Paramedics Union Local 22 endorsed Pennsylvania Senate Republican candidate Dave McCormick on Thursday.
Mike Bresnan, president of the Philadelphia Firefighters and EMTs Union Local 22, said: said “Pennsylvanians are in desperate need of new leadership, so we are proud to support Dave McCormick for U.S. Senate. After meeting with both candidates, we believe that Mr. We understand the challenges that responders face and felt that we would support policies that will improve our lives and make the city of Philadelphia safer.”
McCormick said in a statement that Sen. Bob Casey (D-Pennsylvania), whom he is trying to oust in November, is making the Keystone State less safe.
We are honored to have the support of the brave Philadelphia firefighters and paramedics who make up Local 22. For more than 100 years, Local 22 members have provided the city of Philadelphia with the best emergency services in the country. These men and women are risking their lives on our behalf to keep us safe. They deserve a senator who will support them and fight to get them the resources they deserve. Weak Bob Casey and his liberal policies have upended public safety and isolated Pennsylvania's first responders. I am determined to restore strong leadership to the Senate on behalf of all the people who keep us safe.
Mr. McCormick released an ad last week accusing Mr. Casey of supporting Vice President Kamala Harris and her anti-crime policies.
Advertisement “Switched” focus Regarding McCormick's endorsement by the Pennsylvania Fraternal Order of Police (FOP). The organization declined to endorse Mr. Casey in 2024, despite supporting him in his last re-election campaign.
“Another night, another tragedy in Philadelphia. One of the most dangerous cities in America. Kamala Harris would make things even worse,” the narrator says in the ad.
In March, law enforcement officials criticized the anti-police group Pennsylvania Indivisible's endorsement of Casey as “alarming and extremely dangerous.”
