Philadelphia nurses struck by vehicle dropping off gunshot victim at hospital

A vehicle fleeing after dropping off a gunshot victim at a Philadelphia hospital struck three nurses, seriously injuring one, authorities said.

The incident occurred at 4:30 a.m. Saturday at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, according to Philadelphia police.

Authorities said a person in a silver Jeep Cherokee dropped off the 28-year-old gunshot victim at the hospital's ambulance bay and fled the scene.

Three nurses ran outside to help the victim, but a Cherokee driver hit them and the shooting victim and sped away.

Police said a 36-year-old nurse was in critical condition with facial injuries and internal bleeding. A 37-year-old nurse with head injuries and a 51-year-old nurse with head and back injuries were reported to be in stable condition.

Police said the 28-year-old shooting victim arrived with multiple gunshot wounds and may have suffered a head injury from a hit-and-run.

The four victims are being treated at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center.
