The remaining teens then joined in and began punching the woman, who was on the ground, resulting in a concussion.

“The woman in the pink boots was like a leader, telling the other kids what to do,” Evers said of the 14-year-old girl.

Less than an hour after the first incident, a group of teenagers headed to the 200 block of North 19th Street, where a 31-year-old man was punched and chased, Evers said.

Shortly after, a 40-year-old woman was struck near the Target at 20th Avenue and Callowhill Avenue.

Police were sharing surveillance footage of a group of teens wanted on assault charges. The day after the video was released, Evers said a 14-year-old girl showed up with her parents and turned herself in.

The next day, five other teenage suspects surrendered to police, accompanied by their parents, Evers said.

“The parents made the right decision. They saw their kids misbehaving on Wednesday and turned them in on Friday,” Evers said.

Evers said at a news conference Monday that the attack was “unprovoked” and that investigators were working to determine the motive.

“None of the six people arrested had been arrested before, which is very surprising,” Evers said. “We don't know what made them do this.”
