Phillie Phanatic Mocks Astronomer CEO and HR Chief During Coldplay Kiss Cam Incident

Philadelphia Phillies Mascots React to Kiss Cam Moment

The Philadelphia Phillies had a good laugh recently when astronomer Andy Byron and HR executive Christine Cabot tried to duck out of sight during Coldplay’s concert on Wednesday, specifically when the kiss cam zoomed in on them.

A video shared on X shows the Phillies mascot, the Phillie Phanatic, along with another mascot, getting involved in the humor. As they embraced the kiss cam moment, they noticed Byron’s attempt to hide, which made for a funny scene.

In the footage, the Phillie Phanatic mimics Byron trying to shield himself while other mascots face away, hands over their faces. Earlier reports indicated that Coldplay “accidentally highlighted intriguing interactions” between Byron and Cabot, prompting them to shy away after being featured on the kiss cam. When Chris Martin of Coldplay noticed, he tried to reassure them, suggesting they were just being coy.

Upon realizing they were the focus of the kiss cam in front of a packed crowd at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, Byron quickly ducked down, while Cabot turned away from the camera.

“It’s all good,” Martin commented, but it seemed like the attention from the crowd was only intensifying.

However, several awkward moments went by without Byron and Cabot returning to the camera, leading Martin to speculate, “Um, what? Are they just shy or avoiding the spotlight?”

On social media, many users reacted to the funny moment, with some calling it “the best video in world history.” Conversely, a few felt sympathy for Byron and Cabot, describing their situation as “upside down.”

Daily Wire Editor-in-Chief Brent Cherle remarked on Twitter, “And people say we no longer share cultural moments!”

“This is the best video in world history,” tweeted Rep. Brendan Boyle (D-PA), adding a dose of humor to the situation.

Another user chimed in, “I think this just won the Internet today,” showcasing the light-hearted nature of the reactions.

“This is the perfect outcome from the Coldplay shenanigans,” stated another social media user, adding to the jovial commentary.

On the flip side, one commenter didn’t quite find the humor, saying, “I feel for my spouse and kids who might be dealing with this.”

In the aftermath, it seems that the team of astronomers is looking into the incident, particularly after the kiss cam spotlighted Byron and Cabot.
