Phillies’ Bryce Harper helps in high schooler’s promposal

Bryce Harper helped one high school senior realize his dream.

Harper showed up to visit Jake Portela, a senior at Haddonfield Memorial High School in New Jersey, and make his dream proposal to his classmate Julia.

“Oh my god, Bryce Harper is at the door,” Julia said as she opened the door. “I’m going to cry.”

“Hi, Julia,” Harper said, smiling from the doorway. “Jake wants to ask you to prom, so I thought I’d help him and see if you wanted to go to prom with him. Huh?

Julia quickly replied, “Yes!” and promptly embraced the Phillies slugger.

“Oh my god, you’re the GOAT,” she said, planting a hug on her prom date.

Julia’s father also joined in the moment and shook Harper’s hand.

The scene came together quickly: Portella Speaking on “Fantastic Sports Show” On Monday, he announced that he lives in Harper’s neighborhood and had a shot with the first baseman before taking a shot with Julia.

“I knocked on his door, and at first he seemed okay, but then he said, ‘Can I get your email so I can make plans?'” And as I was leaving, he said, “I said, ‘Why don’t we do this right now?'” Jake said on Fox29’s show. “I wasn’t expecting that. [Harper] First of all, open the door. ”

The result was a prom date, a much-talked about moment that will last a lifetime for the two high school students and their home run hitter friend.

The Phillies, who have the best record in the National League at 34-14, will be busy that day in Baltimore as they take on the Orioles.
