Phillips congratulates Biden on ‘a good old fashioned whooping’

Leading presidential candidate Rep. Dean Phillips (D-Minn.) congratulated President Biden on Saturday for winning South Carolina’s Democratic primary, joking that he received a “good old-fashioned cheer.”

“Clearing four digits has never felt so good,” Phillips wrote. X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, after the election campaign was called for the incumbent. “Congratulations, Mr. President, with a good old cheer. See you in Michigan.”

Biden conceded after he won more than 96 percent of the vote, according to the latest tally from Decision Desk, a partner at The Hill. As of 10 p.m. ET, Biden has 55 delegates, but still has 10 to go.

In his victory comments, Biden reflected on his 2020 victory in the state, which served as a spark in his bid to take the White House from former President Donald Trump.
