Philadelphia Mayor Sherrell Parker urged Eagles fans to celebrate in a somewhat civilised way if their team wins on Super Bowl Sunday.
“Philadelphia please, I'm your mayor, don't climb a light pole,” she begged Thursday night, speaking to her infamous, wild fanbase.
Parker begged at a press conference that explained to reporters about plans to increase security on Sunday night.
“For your mayor, don't climb anything, do you get it? That's our golden rule,” Parker added in a tone worthy of an upset parent.
Her comments came two weeks after the Eagles flocked the streets after their team's victory in the NFC Championship.
Fan fired a gun into the air, killing an 18-year-old boy after falling off a light pole, and three people were injured as the woman drove the car into the crowd.
Overall, officers issued 31 quotes for messy behavior and failure to regress, NBC Philadelphia.
“After the Philadelphia team wins, this shows up every time we have an outdoor celebration,” Parker said. “We don't want anything to happen to you, your friends, or your family.”
Riots can break out regardless of the outcome of the game. When the Eagles were defeated by Kansas City chief in the 2023 Super Bowl, angry fans lit up fireworks, clashed with police officers and climbed light poles.
Prior to the championship game, officers had already set up barriers to sidewalks and streets, and local businesses got into the windows. CBS Philadelphia reported.
