Efforts to arrest the suspect were significantly accelerated thanks to numerous tips from local residents, including several “good Samaritans” who subdued the suspect on Tuesday morning.

“We had information coming in that actually pointed to the perpetrator’s name, so we knew who the perpetrator was,” NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenney said at a news conference.

Christian Giovanni Inga Landi, 25, was the name given to police by an informant five days after a 13-year-old girl and a 13-year-old boy were held at knifepoint with a “machete-type” blade in a broad daylight attack in Kissena Park.

Kenney noted the suspect now faces multiple charges including rape, kidnapping, weapons possession and sexual abuse.

The arrest of the illegal immigrant comes after the NYPD released a plethora of images and footage of him after launching a manhunt on Monday night. A sketch of the suspect was also released, including a unique tattoo of a wild boar. However, information about his tattoo is unclear, with other sources claiming it actually depicts a bull.

Kenney said Queens residents responded to the call for help by providing the name of suspect Inga Lundy, a Facebook account that was found, photos matching the tattoos and clothing she was wearing at the time of the sexual assault.

“One piece of advice we actually received was from a landlord who said: [that] “The guy came to his building about two weeks ago and was trying to rent a room,” he said.

“Inga Lundy has never been arrested in New York City and was previously arrested out of state in June 2021 for illegally entering the U.S. through Eagle Pass, Texas,” the paper reported. ABC 7 News.

After being released from custody, Inga Landi reportedly moved to Queens, where police issued him three summonses and then, following a call from a neighbor, encountered him in the act of domestic violence, though he somehow managed to evade arrest in New York City at the time.

Authorities learned that the suspect brandished a machete-style knife, took the two girls to a secluded location, bound their wrists with shoelaces and sexually assaulted them. He then stole the victims’ cellphones and ordered them to remain there for 20 minutes while he fled, police said.

After he left, the teens rushed to a nearby school to inform staff about what had happened, and the school responded by calling 911.

The incident prompted a massive search of the area, with a larger than usual police presence in the park for several days, and local residents mobilized in an effort to find the killer, including posting fliers with a police sketch and a description of the killer’s tattoos.

“The large amount of information included a 911 call at approximately 1 a.m. Tuesday from a local resident reporting that they had spotted the suspect, Inga Lundy, in the area of 108th Avenue and Waldon Street,” Kenney said. New York Post report.

“That’s where we found out the community was catching the perpetrator,” Kenny said. “They fought them, but the community was catching the perpetrator until we got there.”

Inga Lundy was treated for minor injuries at Elmhurst Hospital and then taken back to the Queens Police Department, where investigators from the Special Victims Unit were investigating, Kenney said.

“After waiving his Miranda rights, the suspect stated he had a drug problem, that he had found the knife he used to threaten the two boys and that this was the first time he had ever done anything like this,” Kenney said. “The suspect identified himself in the video that was shown to us.”
