The photo finish of the men’s 100m final at the Paris Olympics has become a hot topic on social media.
U.S. sprinter Noah Lyles won the gold medal on Sunday by just half a second, but other runners crossed the finish line before him, sparking an uproar online.
Slow-motion footage and aerial photos show the white track shoes of Jamaica’s Kishane Thompson crossing the finish line, followed closely by American sprinter Fred Curley in bright orange shoes.
But it was Lyles’ decision at the end of the race to lean forward and push his chest out to cross the finish line that made the difference in a very close race on the purple track at the Stade de France.

The 27-year-old Lyles finished in a time of 9.784 seconds, just beating Thompson, who ran 9.789 seconds.
Carly placed third with a time of 9.81 seconds.

Lyles said he was “shocked” when he looked at the scoreboard and saw he’d won the race.
“I really thought I’d lost. Me and Kishane were next to each other and I thought, ‘You’ve got to swallow your pride on this one. I’m gonna be honest with you, I think you won.’ Lyles said.
“And then when my name came up, I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, I’m amazing,'” Lyles said with a laugh.
Lyles arrived in Paris with an Olympic bronze medal, six world titles and four Diamond League final trophies.
The Adidas athlete said: He wants his own signature shoe After winning the gold medal, it was the United States’ first gold medal in the event in 20 years.
Lyles is scheduled to compete in the first round of the men’s 200-meter dash on Monday.
He won the bronze medal in this event at the Tokyo Olympics three years ago in a time of 19.74 seconds.
