Recently released photos reveal Zoran Mamdani at a notable luncheon with Peggy Segal, who has ties to Jeffrey Epstein. This event, held on November 15, 2017, at the Lincoln Ristorante in Manhattan, captured the now-Mayor of New York sharing a smile with Segal. She, a former Hollywood publicist, faced criticism for her connections to Epstein but was never charged with any crime.
The release of documents by the Justice Department on January 30, 2026, included this photograph as part of a larger set pertaining to Epstein’s social and professional circles. Interestingly, it doesn’t suggest any criminal activity by those mentioned, including Mamdani’s mother, Mira Nair, a well-known filmmaker.
Among the documents is a 2009 email where Segal mentioned an afterparty for the movie “Amelia,” which Nair directed. Attendees, according to the email, included notable figures like former President Bill Clinton and Jeff Bezos. Again, nothing in the records implies any wrongdoing.
Photos from the luncheon show Mamdani mingling with actor Daniel Kaluuya and others, celebrating Jordan Peele’s Academy Award-winning screenplay for “Get Out.” Another image displays notable attendees like Peele and producer Jason Blum, underlining the luncheon’s significance during the awards season.
Earlier images of Nair and Segal at a screening event in December 2016 also surfaced. At that time, Segal was a powerful player in entertainment, but by 2019, several studios, including Netflix, distanced themselves from her following her disclosures about Epstein.
Epstein himself had a troubled legal history, first arrested in 2006 and later committing suicide in jail while awaiting trial for serious charges. Maxwell, his associate, is serving a lengthy prison sentence after being convicted of crimes linked to Epstein’s actions.
Mamdani is still in the spotlight and his office, along with Segal’s, has been contacted for comments on these recent developments.
