Fans can look forward to the next chapter.
Filming for Season 4 of the popular comedy, Ted Lasso, is underway, and some new images have come to light.
On Wednesday, Apple TV+ shared a snapshot from the set featuring Jason Sudeikis, portraying Ted Lasso, having a conversation with Rebecca Welton, played by Hannah Waddingham, near a jet in Richmond.
Other images showed Ted coaching a girls’ soccer team, looking cheerful alongside his new assistant coach, Tanya Reynolds.
The next season is expected to premiere in the summer of 2026, with returning cast members like Sudeikis, Waddingham, Juno Temple, Brett Goldstein, Brendan Hunt, and Jeremy Swift.
Introducing some fresh faces, Reynolds, Jude Mack, Faye Margie, Rex Hayes, Aisling Sharkey, Abbey Hearn, and Grant Feely will join the show.
Feely takes on the role of Ted’s son, Henry, following a casting change for Season 4. Apple also released a photo of the father-son duo at Mae Green’s Crown & Anchor pub in London.
This role was previously portrayed by Gus Turner during the first three seasons.
There’s also news that Phil Dunster, who plays Jamie Tartt, won’t return as a regular due to scheduling issues.
As for the storyline, it appears that Ted will face his biggest challenge yet: coaching a Division 2 women’s football team. Throughout the season, both Ted and the players will learn to embrace unexpected opportunities.
Production for “Ted Lasso” is currently taking place in London.
Back in March, after Season 3 wrapped up, Sudeikis announced plans for a new season. “We’re working on Season 4. That’s the official update,” he shared during a podcast.
Director Sudeikis hinted that Season 4 would introduce a significantly different storyline compared to previous seasons.
There was a light-hearted exchange where Travis Kelsey asked whether Ted would return to America, to which Sudeikis humorously deflected, saying, “That’s too many questions.”
A press release later underscored that in Season 4, the AFC Richmond crew will take leaps of faith as they learn that where they land is precisely where they need to be.
Matt Chernis, Apple TV+’s head of programming, praised “Ted Lasso” as a “true masterpiece” that has nurtured a dedicated fan base worldwide, bringing joy and kindness.
The Emmy-winning series first aired from 2020 to 2023, wrapping up with three seasons. The show follows Ted Lasso, an American football coach transitioning to managing the struggling English team AFC Richmond.
Season 1 earned 20 Emmy nominations, making it the most nominated new comedy ever. Seasons 2 and 3 followed suit with numerous nominations and wins.
In March 2023, Sudeikis noted that this season was meant to conclude the story he wanted to tell, expressing excitement about audience curiosity for more.
Co-creator Bill Lawrence emphasized that the direction hinges on Sudeikis, reflecting a shared hope for a continued journey. In December 2024, he humorously stated that if anyone wanted a Season 4, they should simply announce it.
