WINNIPEG, Manitoba — Adding more injuries to the pile.
Pierre Engvall was left out of the Islanders' 4-2 loss to the Jets on Tuesday due to an upper-body injury, the team announced in a statement that day.
Engvall joins Ryan Purok, Semyon Varlamov, Casey Cizikas and Robert Bortozzo on a shelf occupied by a rotating cast starting on opening night.
Without him, Isles coach Lane Lambert made a shake-up to the lineup against the Jets after Monday's disastrous 5-0 loss to the Wild.
Bo Horvat and Matt Barzal were separated again, with Oliver Wahlstrom returning to Horvat's right flank.
Barzal skated between Simon Holmstrom and Cal Clutterbuck on the third line, while Hudson Fassing moved up to the second line with Brock Nelson and Kyle Palmieri.
Julien Gauthier skated in the fourth row along with Matt Martin and Jean-Gabriel Pageau.
The prognosis for Engvall, who skated 14 minutes, 54 seconds Monday night, was a shrug.
“There are two days left. [playing the Blackhawks] So we'll see,'' Lambert said when asked about Engvall's status for Friday's game.
Ilya Sorokin started for the second consecutive day on Tuesday, but was pulled for the final 20 minutes of Monday's loss as the Islanders hoped to conserve his health, stopping 40 of 43 shots.
One of the goals conceded was due to an odd play in which Sorokin lost the blade of his skate and was unable to counter Neal Pionk's shot on the power play at 15:19 of the second period. .

“It's just disappointing,” Lambert said. “We had some interesting goals on this trip. Sometimes things like this happen when you're fighting a little bit or struggling a little bit. Alley-oop goals. [at the end of the game] In Nashville and here tonight.
“We definitely have to find a way here. Stay positive and keep moving forward.”
Lambert said Varlamov was on the ice once while recovering from a lower-body injury.
Purok, Cizikas and Bortuzzo have not yet started skating.
Jets winger Kyle Connor returned to action for his first game since Dec. 10, and Mark Scheifele went on injured reserve, freeing up a roster spot for the former 40-goal scorer.
