Piers Morgan Comments on Colbert’s Cancellation

Piers Morgan, host of “Uncensored,” shared his thoughts on the impending cancellation of “Late Show with Stephen Colbert” during a recent appearance on Fox News’ “Outnumbered.” He explained that the show’s decline in ratings was evident, attributing its financial losses and dull content largely to its constant criticism of former President Donald Trump.

“I think I’ve seen far too many discussions about the cancellations of shows,” Morgan remarked, pointing out that Colbert’s ratings had plummeted. He noted the significant costs associated with the show, stating it required $40 million annually and a team of around 200 staff. That’s quite a lot to maintain, really.

Calls for Transparency on Cancellation

This month, CBS confirmed that it would end “Late Show” at the conclusion of the current season. The network described this decision as primarily financial, not influenced by the show’s content or performance, a stance that some critics find hard to accept. Reports have suggested that the show has been losing more than $40 million yearly.

Despite CBS’s assurances, many continue to question the motivations behind the cancellation. Some allege it may be tied to political considerations, especially given recent agreements involving Trump. I mean, could it be more than just money?

Morgan Rejects Conspiracy Theories

Morgan dismissed these theories, labeling them as mere speculation. He argued that the financial burden of the show made it an unappealing prospect moving forward. He contrasted the efficiency of Fox News with Colbert’s operation, emphasizing its vast team focused primarily on developing anti-Trump material.

“It’s a one-trick pony,” Morgan said, criticizing the reliance on mockery of Trump. He suggested that the whole late-night scene on other networks has become somewhat predictable, echoing a similar theme.
