A tragic accident claimed the lives of a well-loved pilot from Florida and his wife when their small aircraft went down in Texas, reportedly due to a dirty windshield. However, their puppy managed to survive the crash.
Ron and Barbara Timmerman lost their lives on Wednesday evening when their Beechcraft A36 collided with a power line near Brownsboro around 5:30 p.m., crashing close to a line of homes.
They communicated with air traffic control about making an emergency landing, but unfortunately, the plane struck the power line as they prepared to descend.
A report from the FAA indicated that “oil coating the windshield” was to blame for the emergency landing attempt, as noted in information obtained by the Daily Mail.
Surprisingly, their small dog, who was also on board, escaped the accident uninjured and was rescued by nearby residents who heard the crash.
“The dog was still alive, and a neighbor took it in for care,” said Mary Ann Shoulders, a local resident.
“It was just so loud and chaotic,” she described. “The sound of metal breaking was unmistakable.”
She added, “I saw the woman, but I didn’t recognize her. I thought maybe she was one of our neighbors, but I couldn’t be sure.”
Shocking images revealed the plane crashing into a quiet street, nose-first, with its tail still in the air.
The Timmermans owned an airline based in the Orlando area, and Ron was known for his expertise in flight instruction.
Colleagues expressed how much they would miss him, noting his significant impact in the aviation community.
A representative from the Florida Aviation Network commented, “Ron was instrumental in training hundreds of pilots over the years and conducted many interviews within the aviation field.”
Plans were made for the Timmerman family to adopt the surviving dog.
