Pilots report mysterious lights over Oregon as drone sightings baffle New Jersey

At least four commercial airline pilots encountered a mysterious, colorful, circular light “moving at high speed” over Oregon over the weekend, according to local reports.

The pilot and a nearby air traffic controller discussed the alarming sighting left in the air traffic control audio archive on December 7th. Retrieved by OregonLive.

“Is there any military activity in front of us?” a United Airlines pilot flying from Denver to Eugene, Oregon, asked in a recording around 8:30 p.m. Pacific time.

Air traffic controllers said they saw nothing, but added that they had received another report of something 30,000 feet above the same area. “I don't know what it is,” she says.

“There’s a lot of movement here,” the pilot said.

“They're looking into it,” air traffic control replied.

“We have three or four targets in sight,” the pilot quickly informed. [at] All altitudes. Up and down. It's pretty crazy. ”

The lights “were flying all the way up,” as high as 50,000 feet, he said.

Later in the recording, a second pilot flying the air ambulance reports a signal and tells air traffic control that it is moving in a “corkscrew pattern.”

When asked for details, the pilot said it looked like an “aircraft strobe” and then another strobe appeared.

The pilot said the light was “sprinting towards us and then back towards the sea, red and moving super fast.”

Air ambulance pilot Joe Bouley said he was not convinced the light was a satellite. KGW8

“I don’t even know how to explain it,” he added.

Another air traffic controller told the pilot, “You are authorized to maneuver left and right as necessary to avoid the UFOs that are out there.”

LifeFlight pilot Joe Bouley, 37, said: told K.G.W. He and two other doctors on board the fixed-wing plane reported seeing an orange light while flying from Aurora, Colorado, to North Bend, Washington.

“The most noticeable thing was the change in direction. Usually things don't change direction unless it's an aircraft,” Bouley told KGW on Thursday.

KGW reported that two Horizon Airlines pilots also saw mysterious lights on December 8, according to air traffic controllers.

The report said some short video clips shot by the pilot and his crew showed light in the sky, but the darkness made it difficult to see objects.

Each flight continued to its destination without incident.

The US Federal Aviation Administration confirmed that at least one pilot had seen strange lights, but did not provide further information.

Scientist Douglas Buettner, who led the study investigating the cases of five pilots who encountered a bright light over the Pacific Ocean in 2022, told the outlet that the light was most likely a Starlink satellite. spoke.

“I asked two other people to look at it and they said it matched Starlink,” he said.

Bouley says he's not convinced it was a satellite.

The strange sightings on the West Coast come as New Jersey residents reported mysterious drones flying overhead, but White House officials offered no explanation.

“They don't change direction, and even if they do, it's not rapidly. You can't do it at this speed,” he told KGW.

Speculation about the origin of the drones ranges from the U.S. military testing a new secret technology to an Iranian “mothership” floating at sea deploying objects over the Garden State.
