Pistons’ Jaden Ivey stretchered off after brutal leg injury

Jaden Ivey writhed in pain and ultimately had to be taken off the floor on a stretcher in a terrifying scene with just over 10 minutes remaining in the Pistons' 105-96 win over the Magic on Wednesday. .

Question marks remain as to how serious the injury is, but if Ivey's reaction is any indication, it could be serious.

The incident occurred in the fourth quarter when the Magic's Cole Anthony went for a loose ball, wiping out Ivey in the process.

Anthony appeared to be connected to the side of Ivy's leg.

The Pistons guard appeared to bend his ankle before falling hard to the floor at Little Caesars Arena.

Ivy's cries of pain could be heard on the television broadcast and seemed to echo throughout the arena, further adding to the seriousness of the situation.

The 22-year-old was treated by Pistons medical staff before being placed on a stretcher.

fans shouted his name when he was removed from the court.

“It's a tough situation for all of us,” Pistons coach JB Bickerstaff told reporters after the game. According to The Athletic. “There's no better teammate or teammates than JI. There's no one who cares about this more than he does. It's hard to watch.”

Magic coach Jamal Mosley also expressed sympathy for Ivey's injury.

“I had to pray for this young man and it was heartbreaking to see something like that happen.” Mr Mosley said:. “You compete the best you can and you never want to see that happen to anyone. Our thoughts and prayers are with him. We hope it's not as bad as it seems. In any case, I wish you a speedy recovery.”

Ivey has been a big part of the Pistons (15-18) this season, and the team is already on the verge of surpassing the 17-win mark in 2023-24.

The No. 5 overall pick in the 2022 draft entered Wednesday's game averaging 17.4 points, 4.2 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game on 39.2 percent shooting from 3-point range, finishing the night with 22 points.
