PK Subban fulfills his promise by donating $10 million to the Montreal Children's Hospital

PK Subban Completes $10 Million Pledge to Montreal Children’s Hospital

Years ago, PK Subban was recognized as one of the top defensemen in the NHL. Back in 2015, he won the Norris Trophy and was a prominent figure for the Montreal Canadiens when the team committed to donating $10 million to the Montreal Children’s Hospital.

Then, in 2016, he was traded to Nashville in a major deal involving Hall of Famer Shea Weber. However, Subban’s promise didn’t fade with that transition.

Recently, it was announced that Subban has fulfilled his commitment to donate $10 million to the hospital, marking the largest charitable effort by a Canadian athlete. He described the journey to reach this goal as challenging, admitting, “There have definitely been obstacles.” Yet he never wavered in his dedication, saying, “Did you ever have doubts? No, because I always promised to follow through.”

Currently, Subban is an analyst for ESPN, and during the recent Montreal Children’s Hospital Foundation Gala, he shared that reaching such a high amount was tough—especially amidst skepticism from those who doubted his resolve.

Reflecting on taking such responsibility at a young age, he stated, “When you see someone take on that level of responsibility at the age of 23, I think people have questions.” He encouraged doubters to have faith in themselves, asserting, “We just proved it.”

The foundation reported that Subban’s contributions have positively impacted around 100,000 children, which is nothing short of remarkable.

It’s impressive to see someone like PK remain committed to his word, even after being traded away. His actions reflect true integrity and compassion.
