Cenedy Carter’s Transition in Fame
Before this week, Cenedy Carter was known for a specific incident—namely, a video where she blindsided Kate Linklark, taking her down to the floor. Now, her reputation has shifted, as she’s gained attention for entirely different types of videos.
Carter, formerly with the Chicago Sky, is now competing in the Women’s Basketball League in Mexico. You might recall her from last year’s memorable episode:
Carter recently engaged with fans in Mexico, signing autographs and taking photos. But she didn’t stop there; she elevated the experience further.
At least this time, Carter is making headlines for more positive actions rather than inflicting harm.
She was a top scorer for the Sky last year, which many would assume would secure her a new contract. However, that didn’t happen, largely attributed to her struggles in collaborative situations.
According to reports from the Chicago Sun Times, former Sky coach Teresa Witherspoon faced challenges managing conflict involving Carter and Caitlyn Clark, among other issues. This led the team to ultimately decide against keeping her.
“Multiple league sources indicated that players were dissatisfied with the locker room dynamics caused by Carter’s behavior last year. It has been noted that following the coach’s dismissal in January, there were worries about the impact of Carter’s actions on attracting other free agents,” stated one report.
Interestingly, the Sky isn’t the first team to find Carter’s presence to be more trouble than it was worth. Atlanta also released her due to what they described as “behavior detrimental to the team.” Over the course of her four-year WNBA career, she has played for three different teams.
