Interior Designer Criticizes Trump Administration
Jennifer Welch, an interior designer and co-host of the podcast “I’ve Had It,” made headlines recently for her strong criticism of the Trump administration. Specifically, she referred to Stephen Miller, the deputy chief of staff for policy, as a “Nazi Jew.”
This isn’t the first time figures on the far-left have drawn parallels between President Trump and Adolf Hitler, a comparison that many deem irresponsible given the politically charged environment in the country.
Welch spoke on CNN’s episode “Keeping Up With the Cult,” hosted by Abby Phillip. Phillip expressed that it’s valuable for people to share diverse perspectives but also emphasized the importance of guests articulating their true beliefs.
Reflecting on societal attitudes toward prejudice from the 1980s, Phillip mentioned, “I sometimes think about the silent prejudices of that time and whether knowing people’s opinions might actually be more beneficial.”
In the podcast, Welch took issue with the phrase “I don’t see color,” suggesting it allows people to mask their racism.
Phillip countered that it is the responsibility of political leaders to delineate acceptable views within their parties when faced with “unacceptable” ideologies. “Is it really cancel culture, or more about leadership?” she posed.
Welch continued, questioning what would happen if a racist figure were to attain power, implying that Miller embodies a white supremacist agenda. She characterized Miller as a powerful influence in the White House, stating, “He’s basically running the White House while Trump focuses on decorating. There’s a genuine sociopath, an anti-Semite, who fits this description like Miller.”
In response to Welch’s remarks, a White House spokesperson dismissed her views as typical of interior designers commenting on political issues. The spokesperson suggested that if she aimed to appear more intelligent, she should refrain from making incendiary comments.
During the interview, Phillip provided a measured response to Welch’s claims about Miller. “I can’t speak to his motives, but I’ve met him and interviewed him,” she noted.
At one point, Welch quipped about wanting to know Miller’s height, to which co-host Angie “Pumps” Sullivan humorously added, “Yes, we’re dying to know.”
The ongoing discourse surrounding political figures continues, often amplifying tensions in an already divided atmosphere.
