A high-stakes gambler believed to be carrying a bag filled with $250,000 in cash for a poker game was robbed at gunpoint outside a New York City hotel on Thursday, according to police and reports.

According to police, the 41-year-old victim was outside the New York LaGuardia Airport Marriott Hotel in East Elmhurst, Queens, around 6:10 p.m. when a man approached him at gunpoint and demanded that he hand over the cash he had stolen.

The suspect then loaded the cash into a Mercedes and fled the scene, sources said, though it was unclear whether the suspect was driving the car.
