Police chief outraged after illegal alien allegedly causes car crash that killed mother and daughter in Michigan

A southeast Michigan police chief has expressed outrage over a car crash caused by a man who “had no legal status” in the United States that claimed the lives of two women.

Last minute Thursday 1pmJose Medina Hernandez, 33, was driving a box truck south on M-53 in Shelby Township, about 30 miles north of Detroit, when suddenly, Medina Hernandez crashed into a Buick Verano, allegedly causing a series of car accidents involving at least two other vehicles. press release A spokesman for the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office said:

“My office is committed to ensuring justice is served and that those responsible for this incident are held accountable for their actions.”

Two women were in the Buick Verano: Crystal Brann, 63, and her mother, Nancy Richmond, 88. Both women died in the crash, but it is unclear whether they died instantly.

Medina-Hernandez was taken to the hospital with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening, and a roughly one-mile stretch of M-53 was closed for several hours that day while traffic cleared the scene and treated the victims.

Medina-Hernandez was subsequently charged with two counts of traffic violation resulting in death, a misdemeanor punishable by up to one year in prison. He is being held on $250,000 bail. Other trial dates in the case have not yet been set.

“Our authorities will do everything in their power to ensure justice is served and those responsible for this incident are held accountable, and our deepest condolences go out to the family affected by this senseless loss,” Macomb County Prosecutor Peter Lucido said in a statement.

Several Local Media Medina-Hernandez described himself as a resident of Westland, another suburb of Detroit. The DA’s press release made no mention of Medina-Hernandez’s immigration status, but a subsequent investigation determined that he is in fact an illegal immigrant, although his country of origin has not yet been reported.

“I am the suspect, Jose Eugenio Median Hernandez (chic) has no legal standing in the country,” Shelby Township Police Chief Robert Sheride said in a statement.

Mr Sherride said the accident was “undoubtedly preventable” and offered his condolences to the families of Mr Brann and Mr Richmond.
