Jelly Roll Disinvited from Fundraiser After Anti-Trump Comments

Blue Lives Matter, a national police organization, has withdrawn its invitation to country singer Jelly Roll for an upcoming fundraising event at Mar-a-Lago. This decision followed comments he made during a monologue on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, where he urged supporters of former President Donald Trump to stop listening to his music.

The artist, whose actual name is Jason Bradley DeFord, expressed strong disdain for Republicans, MAGA supporters, and Trump himself while guest hosting on ABC. He referred to Trump as a “fat pig” and suggested that the president held racist views. In the following days, Jelly Roll intensified his remarks, which did not sit well with his fans.

The organizers of the pro-police fundraiser promptly removed him from their list of performers.

Kyle S. Reyes, owner of The Police Tribune, took to his social media on Friday to announce Jelly Roll’s disinvitation, stating, “We’re DONE. You’re FIRED.” This event, slated for November 17 at Trump’s resort, aims to support the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Foundation, which assists the families of injured and fallen officers. Reyes emphasized the event’s significance, mentioning the participation of federal law enforcement leaders, sheriffs, police chiefs, and supporters.

Reyes formally confirmed the withdrawal of Jelly Roll’s invitation, adding a personal note about his values. “As a proud Christian and a father, I was taken aback by this ‘artist’ harshly criticizing President Trump and Conservatives. It felt like he was more focused on seeking attention from those who openly reject his message,” he said.

He continued, expressing pity for Jelly Roll: “He seems to have lost his way, and while I don’t harbor any hatred, it’s clear he has some introspection to do.”

Reyes pointed out that Jelly Roll, a former felon himself, has been granted a second chance by the judicial system but may not receive one from his disappointed fans. He stressed that true redemption should come from a place of sincerity rather than seeking validation from critics. His message urged Jelly Roll to reassess his priorities and align with his values as a person.

Interestingly, despite the backlash, Jelly Roll continued to make waves during his hosting week on Jimmy Kimmel Live!. After facing backlash from his mostly conservative audience, he reiterated his stance even more assertively, telling those who were upset to feel free to stop listening to his music.

“Go right ahead,” he said, seemingly aware of the controversy he was stirring.

However, it appeared the backlash impacted him deeply, as he was seen crying on stage later in the week, trying to position himself as a centrist. This was somewhat inconsistent, as he hadn’t criticized any liberal figures during his time on the show.

Reports indicated that he lost a significant number of followers on social media shortly after his controversial comments.

In light of Jelly Roll’s departure from the event, Reyes announced that country singer Coffey Anderson would replace him, performing not just his own songs but also worship music dedicated to honoring God.
