Police horses spark chase as run wrong way down highway

These officers were not restraining the horse.

Two rogue police horses escaped from their stable in Ohio and raced the wrong way down a busy highway, bringing traffic to a screeching halt.

“Real horsepower was on display today on Interstate 90 in downtown Cleveland,” the Ohio Department of Transportation wrote while sharing footage of a horse that escaped from a stable on Saturday.

“Are you hurt? Hey,” the department joked.

The footage shows the car slowing before coming to a sudden stop at the mysterious sight of two horses galloping west in the eastbound lanes of the interstate.

One of the officers is seen clapping to get the attention of the horses (one brown and one black), but the horse instead ignores him and continues running, with a police car with flashing lights trailing behind. chased after.

The horse veers off the highway, down an on-ramp, across a grassy section of a side road and out of sight.

Several police officers are seen chasing the mischievous horse on foot, and at least one driver can be seen getting out of his vehicle and attempting to issue a warning.

Cleveland Police Sergeant Wilfredo Diaz said the horses were members of the department’s equestrian division and had “accidentally strayed” during “routine care and exercise.”

“Mountain officers quickly recovered both horses and ensured their safety, and no further incidents occurred,” Diaz said.

The Cleveland Mounted Police Team consists of eight horses and eight officers. According to the website.

The team’s horses are named Breeze, Checks, Jim, Larry, George, Mandy, Jack and Nemo, but it is not clear which pair won their freedom.
