New York State Police are searching for a missing woman who intentionally entered the Niagara River above the iconic falls, just one week after her mother threw herself from the basin with her two children.
Police say multiple witnesses spotted a mysterious woman in the water on Goat Island, directly above Horseshoe Falls (the largest of the three waterfalls that make up Niagara Falls), around 2 p.m. Wednesday, according to police. reported.
“We immediately began searching the area using a Park Police drone, foot search in the canyon, and visual search from an overlook,” state police said in a statement. told WGRZ in a statement..
Park Police then contacted New York State Police Aviation and requested assistance in searching the lower Niagara River.
